ENERGY – Wind tower fabrication system with dual spindles for high performances
Wind tower, ship yards, pressure vessels and heat exchanger manufactures desire diverse weld prep geometry that can only be generated by milling to reduce welding times.

 

The FICEP Energy gantry style plate processor starts with two 60 KW spindles that can accept milling tools up to 300 mm in diameter for aggressive milling of plates up to 140 mm in thickness. This robust design is ideally suited to generate: Y chamfer, K chamfer, K chamfer with reduction, X chamfer, U/J chamfer, J/Y chamfer weld preps to minimize welding times.

 

The FICEP Energy is available in different bed lengths to accommodate longer plates and the table can be sub divided to permit multiple processing zones. While one end of the table is processing a stock plate the operator can be removing finished parts from the other end of the table and then loading the next plate to be processed. Positioning of the plate on the table is not critical as the Energy utilizes a probing system to locate all the critical edges of the part prior to any spindle operations.
